Collecting in National Parks is not permitted without permission or permit (from DOC or local Iwi) - this includes public reserves and scientifically important areas

- collecting of pounamu (aka greenstone, nephrite, NZ Jade) from National Parks and Arahura River requires both permission from DOC and the local Iwi.



If you have to dig a hole or trench FILL IT IN, do not destroy the natural landscape.

Do not dig up archaeological sites.


You can be prosecuted if you breach any of the above.
